Red is the boldest thing in the range. It is a deep red rather than a scarlet, and on silk it reads closer to wine than to postbox.
The silk is the same on every colour we sell: 100 per cent mulberry, Grade 6A long fibre, woven to 22 momme. The colour is the only thing that changes.
A strong dye on a natural fibre wants a separate first wash. Do that once and it behaves like every other case in the range afterwards.
It closes with a hidden zip rather than an envelope flap, so the pillow stays where you put it and there is nothing to tuck at 11pm.

At 22 momme this is a dense, heavy silk. Below about 19 a pillowcase wears through quickly; much above 22 and you are into curtain weight and lose the drape.

Momme is a weight, not a count. Silk thread is too fine to count usefully, so a standard piece is weighed instead. This case is 22 momme, which is the weight we settled on for pillowcases: 19 is fine but wears through sooner, and much heavier than 22 starts behaving like furnishing silk and loses the drape.
Know what you are buying, silk or satin
Satin is a weave and silk is a fibre, so a fabric can be one, the other, or both. This page is silk.
