The two things people want from a bonnet are that it holds all their hair and that it is still on in the morning. Most fail one or the other.
This one is cut with volume rather than as a close cap, so long hair, braids, weaves, rollers and an up-do all go in without being pressed flat.
The silk is 100 per cent mulberry at 22 momme. A bonnet made from a polyester satin does part of the job; the reason to pay for silk is that it holds far less of the moisture and product you put in your hair.
It also keeps hair oils off the pillow, which is the quiet argument for a bonnet even if you already sleep on silk.
One size, and no sizing chart to get wrong.
A bonnet and a silk pillowcase solve overlapping problems and people often own both. The pillowcase takes the friction out of the surface; the bonnet keeps the hair together so there is less movement to create friction in the first place. If you are choosing one, choose by hair length and by how much you move in your sleep.
The design decision that matters here is volume. A cap that fits closely flattens a style, and a bonnet that flattens a style gets taken off at 2am and does nothing at all. This one is cut deliberately roomy.
The band has to hold without gripping. Too tight and it leaves a line and presses on the hairline, which is exactly the area people are trying to protect; too loose and it is on the floor by morning.

They are not the same fix
A silk pillowcase changes the surface your hair moves against. A bonnet stops the hair moving so much in the first place. Long hair, a set style or a restless sleeper gets more out of the bonnet; short hair on a still sleeper gets more out of the pillowcase. Plenty of people use both, and that is not overkill.
Volume beats fit
The single reason a bonnet ends up in a drawer is that it flattened the style it was bought to protect. Look for one cut with room rather than one cut close. This one is deliberately roomy, which is also why it takes rollers and clamps.
The band decides whether you keep wearing it
